The Cultural Committee of Nanda Nath Saikia College organised a vibrant celebration to commemorate Kalaguru Bishnu Prasad Rabha Day, paying heartfelt tribute to one of Assam’s greatest cultural icons—Kalaguru Bishnu Prasad Rabha. The programme, gracefully anchored by Dr. Konnaki Konwar, reflected the college’s commitment to honouring the rich artistic and revolutionary legacy of the multifaceted personality whose contributions to art, music, and social awakening continue to inspire generations.

The programme began with a solemn and respectful ambience as the faculty members and students gathered to celebrate the life and philosophy of the Kalaguru. The event commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp in front of the portrait of Kalaguru Bishnu Prasad Rabha, symbolizing reverence and enlightenment. The programme was inaugurated by the Principal of the College, Dr. Suvangshu Dutta, who delivered an inspiring speech highlighting Bishnu Prasad Rabha’s immense role in shaping Assamese identity through his revolutionary art and thought. Academic Vice Principal, Dr. Rajnish Saikia, also graced the programme with his presence.

Adding to the depth of the occasion, Dr. Bornali Saikia delivered a heartfelt and enlightening address. Her words beautifully encapsulated the essence of Rabha’s vision—his dream of a society rooted in compassion, creativity, and collective progress. As part of the celebration, a Poem Recitation Competition was organised, encouraging students to express their admiration for the Kalaguru through the beauty of words. The competition was judged by Dr. Jonali Saikia Borkakoty, Mrs. Himakshi Borah, and Dr Jafrin Farha Hussain, who appreciated the students’ enthusiasm and literary expression. Each performance echoed the spirit of Rabha’s ideals, blending emotion and intellect with youthful creativity.

The highlight of the celebration came when the principal, faculty members and Students sang Bishnu Prasad Rabha’s immortal songs, filling the room with an air of reverence and unity.

The celebration concluded with warm appreciation for the efforts of the Cultural Committee, whose thoughtful organisation ensured that the event became both a cultural and educational experience.
