The Geographical Forum of the Department of Geography, Nanda Nath Saikia College, celebrated World Environment Day 2026 at Gomati Devi Girls’ High School. On this occasion, an Art Competition on the theme “Conservation of Natural Environment (প্ৰাকৃতিক পৰিৱেশৰ সুৰক্ষা)” was organized for students of Classes VI, VII, and VIII. A Speech Competition on the topic “Role of Climate in Maintaining Environmental Balance (প্ৰাকৃতিক পৰিৱেশৰ ভাৰসাম্য ৰক্ষাত জলবায়ুৰ ভূমিকা)” was also held for students of Classes IX and X. More than 60 students participated in the Art Competition, while 22 students took part in the Speech Competition. In addition to the competitions, the Forum organized a talk based on the theme of World Environment Day 2026. Dr. Kashmiri Baruah, Assistant Professor of Physics at Nanda Nath Saikia College, was invited as the resource person. Dr. Baruah delivered an insightful lecture covering various aspects of the environment and the importance of its conservation and protection. The Headmistress, Mrs. Nabanita Das, and assistant teachers Mrs. Manisha Bordoloi and Mrs. Niranjita Das also addressed the gathering. The prize distribution ceremony was conducted by Dr. Navamallika Sharma, Secretary of the Forum. Following the concluding remarks by Mrs. Manju Saikia, President of the meeting, the programme came to an end.
