Nanda Nath Saikia College successfully organized the live streaming of Nijut Moina Asoni 2.0 and the cheque distribution program today, October 27th, 2025. The main state-level event is held at the Sarusajai Stadium in Guwahati. The flagship initiative of the Government of Assam, Nijut Moina Asoni 2.0, aims to provide financial assistance to unmarried girl students pursuing education at various levels, thereby promoting women’s empowerment and higher education across the state.
The main programme at Sarusajai Stadium was graced by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Assam, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, along with several dignitaries from the Government of Assam. The Chief Minister, in his address, highlighted the government’s continued commitment to ensure equal access to education for girls and encouraged them to aspire towards academic excellence and self-reliance.
At the college auditorium, a large number of students, faculty members, and staff gathered to witness the live streaming of this remarkable event. The guests on the occasion were Shri Bhaskar Jyoti Baruah, MLA, Titabar; Shri Dhiraj Gowala, Social Worker, and Shri Pritam Kumar Das, ACS, Titabar Circle Officer. A total of 133 higher secondary students and 355 undergraduate students were selected as beneficiaries under this scheme.
The college-level programme commenced with the felicitation of the distinguished guests with traditional Assamese gamosas. The programme was hosted by Mr. Bhargov Borah, Assistant Professor of the Department of History. The honorable Principal of Nanda Nath Saikia College, Dr. Suvangshu Dutta, addressed the audience and expressed his gratitude to the Government of Assam for this progressive initiative. Subsequently, Shri Bhaskar Jyoti Baruah and Shri Dhiraj Gowala delivered their inspiring speeches, highlighting the positive impact of Nijut Moina Asoni on the educational and social upliftment of women. They emphasized how the scheme has become a catalyst for motivating young women to pursue higher education with confidence and ambition.
After the speeches, the cheques were ceremonially distributed to a few selected students in the presence of faculty members and staff, marking the symbolic launch of the distribution process. The cheque distribution ceremony was followed by a Vote of Thanks by Dr. Nirmal Jyoti Konwar, a senior Assistant Professor of the Department of History.
The entire programme was conducted in a well-organized and disciplined manner, reflecting the collective enthusiasm of the college community. The college office staff distributed the remaining cheques to the eligible students in a systematic and orderly manner. Overall, the Nijut Moina Asoni 2.0 live streaming event served as an inspiring and memorable occasion for the institution. It not only celebrated the government’s commitment to education and gender equity but also reinforced the college’s role as an active partner in fostering empowerment and educational development among students.
