Dr. Pranaba Nanda Bhattacharyya, Assistant Professor and Head, Department of Botany, Nanda Nath Saikia College, Titabor, Jorhat, Assam, has been elected as a Fellow of the Linnean Society of London (FLS). The Linnean Society of London, established in 1788 by Sir James Edward Smith, is the world’s oldest active biological society devoted to the study of natural history, taxonomy, and evolution. The Fellowship of the Society is a prestigious distinction awarded to individuals who have made noteworthy contributions to the advancement of natural sciences. Through this recognition, Dr. Bhattacharyya joins the ranks of eminent scientists such as Charles Darwin and Alfred Russel Wallace who were Fellows of this historic institution. His election as Fellow reflects his commitment, academic excellence, and valuable contribution to the field of botany and natural history. This notable achievement brings honour and pride to the Department of Botany and to Nanda Nath Saikia College.
