A Field Study Report
on
Peace keeping process and the prospects of Ecotourism in the Assam-Nagaland border area of Titabar and Changpang revenue circle.

Introduction
A field study was organised by the N. N. Saikia College authority Titabar on 18th February, 2017, under the Educational and Innovation programme funded by the UGC. The department of Political Science and the department of History, N. N. Saikia College, Titabar took the privilege of the programme for the B.A.6th semester major students to study Peace keeping process and the prospects of Ecotourism in the Assam-Nagaland border area of Titabar and Changpang revenue circle. The topic has been divided into two (02) parts for the convenience of the study. The topic of the first part is “Peace keeping process among the Assam-Nagaland border area of Titabar and Changpang revenue circle and its effect on the enjoyment of human rights of the study area”. Altogether 15 students were guided by Sri Joy Prakash Oza, HoD and Sri Hemendra Thengal, Assistant Professor of the Political Science department.
With a view to find out the prospect of ecotourism in Assam -Nagaland border areas, the department of History took part in took part in the educational tour. The topic of the study is “Prospects of Eco Tourism in Assam Nagaland Border areas: A Study on Titabar and Changpang Revenue Circle”. Altogether 10 students of sixth semester History major were guided by Budhin Dutta, HOD and Sri Nirmal Jyoti Konwar, Assistant Professor of the Department of History.
Objectives of the study:
- To study the peace keeping process among the Assam-Nagaland border area of Titabar and Changpang revenue circle.
- To provide first-hand experience among the students of 6th semester, how relevant data of a particular subject can be gathered through field visit, formal and informal interviews and questionnaire and how it can be analysed.
Findings of the study:
- The area of our study is stretching almost five km. bordering area between Assam and Nagaland states is one of the most peaceful areas of the region.
- Extortion and activities of underground secessionist groups is very low. People of the study area lives and carry out their own work without any fear and suppression.
- Border trade is open for all the inhabitants of the border area which is helpful in meeting the daily needs of the people as well as increasing the environment of goodwill and faith among the peoples of the both states.
- For better understanding and communication between Assamese and Naga people, they use Nagamese, a combination of Assamese and Naga language during their conversation.
- A volleyball tournament namely SVBT has been successfully organised bordering villages of the study area since 2003. This reflects their urge for peace and harmony in the place.

ACTIVITY NO. 2:
Departmental Seminar on Recent Trends in History
The Department of History, Nanda Nath Saikia College, Titabar, had organised a Departmental Seminar entitled “Recent Trends in History” on 9th March, 2017. Mr Ajit Kumar Bordoloi, Former D.C. of Dhemaji, and eminent literary figure of Assam, graced the occasion as the resource person and he addressed the issues related with recent trends in history writings. He observed that the scope and dimension of history has widened continuously. He also expressed that history covers not only the political events but also the socio-economic and environmental issues of the society. According to him, Marxist approach of history writing, subaltern history, women history and ecological history are regarded as the most important trends of History writing. The talk programme had an able audience of 45 people.
ACTIVITY NO. 3:
A Talk Programme on Museum Studies and Preservation of Local History
The Department of History, in collaboration with the Department of Geography, Nanda Nath Saikia College, Titabar, organised a talk programme entitled “Museum Studies and Preservation of Local History” on 19th January, 2018. Mr Pankaj Protim Bordoloi, Deputy Director, President House Museum, India, had adorned the occasion as the resource person and he delivered a lecture addressing issues related with the significance of Museum in the educational institutions or in a locality for preserving indigenous history and culture. He expressed his views on the diverse elements of rich culture and heritage of North East India. According to him, a museum is the mirror of the society which can play a significant role in developing inquisitive mind among youth of the society. The talk programme had a respectable audience of 50 people
