Educational tour to Kaziranga National Park & Kaziranga Orchid Park – 19/02/2020
About the tour:
An Educational field study tour to Kaziranga National Park and Kaziranga Orchid Park was organised by the department of History, N.N Saikia College on 19th of February, 2020 for 4th and 6th Semester students. This tour was conducted under the guidance of Mr Rajib Das, Assistant Professor in the department of History N.N Saikia College. A total of 17 numbers of students from both the semesters participated in the tour. All the expenses are borned by the individuals during the tour.
Aim of the Tour:
The chief aim for organising this educational tour was to broaden the horizon of knowledge of the students on Environmental history as well as history of wildlife conservation and tourism industry of Assam.
Area Covered:
- Kohra Site of Kaziranga National Park
- Kaziranga Orchid Park
Knowledge Gained on:
- Geographical boundary/Climate/Area of the region
- Wildlife, Flora & Fauna
- Conservation History of Kaziranga
- Kaziranga as a major tourist destination
- Problems of flood and its curse upon wildlife.
- Flood mitigation measures. For e.g. Construction of Highlands
- Other problems as well as prospects and the role of N.G.Os, conservationists, government and local communities.
Evaluation of knowledge acquired:
The students prepared a field report on the specific tour detailed on their experience and learning during the tour.
