The Department of Zoology conducted a meeting on 14.08.2025 in the premises of the Department to welcome the new students of Zoology Major to the Department. Alongside, the Department conducted a meeting on the Zoological Society of the College, where in the activities of the previous year along with the budget used was read out by Priyanka Saikia and an overview of the Zoological Society was elaborated by the President of the Zoological Society, Dr. Manashi Bortamuly. The overall aims and objectives including the rules and regulations of the Zoological Society were also detailed by the President of Zoological Society. A detailed talk on the funds used/utilised, money collected and all activities undertaken during 2024-25 was discussed.
The HoD, Mitali Chetia welcomed all the 1st Semester students and requested them to maintain the decorum and name of the Department. Other faculty members also gave short speeches and welcomed all the new students to the Department. In addition, student representatives for Class, wall magazine and student executive members for Zoological Society were also selected. Several cultural programmes in the form of songs, dances and extempore, etc., were organized as part of the Freshmen Social. The annual Departmental Bulletin (July 2024 – June 2025) was also inaugurated on the day, and the inauguration was done by Vice Principal, Dittimoni Bora. Approximately 85 students and 4 faculty members along with non-teaching staff Mr. Dipankar Gogoi participated in the said programme. Light refreshment was offered to all. The programme ended with a happy note from all. The meeting ended at about 4 pm.
