The Department of Zoology, in collaboration with the Zoological Society of N. N. Saikia College celebrated the Wildlife Week. On 07.10.2025, Dr. Manashi Bortamuly gave an overview of the importance of wildlife and the reason behind the celebration of the National Wildlife Week. The session was attended by 10 students.

Day 2 was organized on 08.10.2025, wherein, Dr. Manashi Bortamuly, President, Zoological Society N. N. Saikia College welcomed all the students and gave an interesting lecture on the co-existence of reptiles with humans and the surrounding. The talk was based on this year’s theme-Co-exitence with nature. The resource talk was elaborated on the various types of venomous and non-venomous snakes and gave importance on raising awareness among the general public. Approximately, 30-35 students including faculty members of the Department of Zoology were present during the programme..
The resource person also talked about snake antivenom, their conservation and some common mistakes incurred by the general public with the use and existence of snakes.
The talk was informative and the programme ended at 2 pm.
An Add-On-Course on “Yoga and Physical Fitness” was offered by the Department of Zoology, Nanda Nath Saikia College, Titabar from April – June, 2025 comprising of a total duration of 30 hours. Initially 8 students applied for the course and subsequently 3 amongst them completed the course. These students were from different departments of N. N. Saikia College. A theory as well as a practical exam was conducted after completion of the syllabus and the students were awarded a certificate based on their performance in the said exam. The certificates were distributed amongst the students on 24th Septemeber by Principal, N. N. Saikia College. The course familiarized the students and helped them in understanding the benefits of yoga Sana in their day-to-day lives.
