Field Visit to Kaziranga National Park

Introduction:

A field trip to Kaziranga National Park was conducted on 22nd February, 2026 along with 27 students of 4th Semester, under the guidance of Dr. Jafrin Farha Hussain and Miss Priyanka Saikia; and accompanied by Mr. Dipankar Gogoi of the Department of Zoology, N.N. Saikia College, Titabar. The Journey started at around 5:30 am from Titabar.

Trip Objective:

The objective of the trip was to study the different fauna and flora of the National Park, including the migratory birds observed during this season.

Field Observation:

We carried out a jeep safari of 5 jeeps and visited the Agaratoli range of Kaziranga National Park which comprises of a major beel known as Sohola beel, famous for enormous numbers of migratory birds. We observed black necked stork, pelican, snake bird, bar headed geese, parakeets, owl in pairs, grey headed eagle; and also one horned rhino, wild boar, hog deer, etc. Later on, we visited the famous orchid park where students were enlightened on the varieties of orchids natively found in our state. After a hearty lunch, e started our return journey back to Titabar.

Conclusion:

The trip ended at about 8pm. The field visit was a precious trip that had helped to know about the various biological species and habitat of organisms.
