The Department of Botany, in collaboration with the Biotech Hub of N. N. Saikia College, successfully organized a two-day field-level awareness programme in association with local village communities. The initiative aimed to promote sustainable environmental and agricultural practices. During the programme, participants were sensitized on key topics such as agronomic practices, plastic pollution, wastewater treatment, bioremediation, and plant protection. The sessions were designed to create awareness among villagers about environmentally responsible approaches and practical methods that can be effectively applied in their day-to-day agricultural activities. The programme featured interactive discussions and field demonstrations, which played a vital role in bridging the gap between scientific knowledge and community practices. These activities encouraged participants to adopt eco-friendly techniques for sustainable farming and environmental conservation. The initiative reflects the college’s strong commitment to community outreach, environmental awareness, and the dissemination of knowledge for sustainable development.

A Teacher Exchange Programme was successfully conducted on 24th March 2026 under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between N. N. Saikia College, Titabar and Mariani College, Mariani. The initiative aimed to foster academic collaboration, encourage exchange of ideas, and promote mutual enrichment of teaching practices between the two institutions. Faculty members from the Department of Assamese, N. N. Saikia College, participated in the programme at Mariani College. Dr. Barnali Saikia, Associate Professor and Head of the Department, conducted two sessions for 6th and 4th semester students. Dr. Goutam Borah, Assistant Professor of the same department, also delivered two engaging sessions covering key topics such as “Assamese Verb Forms (Asamiya Bhasar Kriya Pod)” and “Trends and Nature of Assamese Literature (Asamiya Sahityar Gati-Prakriti)”, offering valuable academic insights to the students. Each session witnessed the participation of around 25 students, who actively engaged in discussions and interactions. The programme proved to be highly beneficial for both students and faculty, enhancing academic exposure and further strengthening the collaborative relationship between the two colleges as envisioned in the MoU.
